BeYOND VI - Industrial Forum
The BeYOND VI -Industrial Forum will be held as a satellite meeting of the 28th Symposium on Fusion Technology (SOFT 2014) on Wednesday, 1 October 2014, San Sebastian.
BeYOND (Beryllium Opportunities for New Developments) was brought to life by the KBHF (Karlsruhe Beryllium Handling Facility), KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) and MATERION (Ohio/USA). The first BeYOND was held in Karlsruhe on the 13th of November 2009. A triangular contract was signed between those partners that is focused on a close cooperation in the field of Beryllium and its alloys. The KBHF plays herein the role of an ITC (ITER Transfer Company) and has the capability to handle the hazardous material within their Laboratory. As a foundation member of the DIIF (German ITER Industry Forum), the manager of the KBHF (Aniceto Antonio Goraieb) was asked by F4E (EU’s Joint Undertaking for ITER, Barcelona), if he could help to organize an industrial consortium to support the realization of the ITER-Test-Blanked and the idea is to use BeYOND for this purpose.
