Wolfgang Menesklou is a senior scientist at the Institute of Applied Materials - Electrochemical Technologies (IAM-ET) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
He received his Dipl.-Ing. (M.S.E.E.) and the Dr.-Ing. (Ph.D.E.E.) degrees from the University of Karlsruhe (TH), Germany, in 1991 and 1996, respectively. From 1996 to 2000 he was the leader of the sensor group at the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IWE), University of Karlsruhe (TH). In 2000 he served as a postdoc at the Crystal Physics and Electroceramics Laboratory at MIT, USA. From 2001 to 2010 he was the founder and head of the research group Tunable Dielectrics at the IWE. Since 2010, his research activities have been extended to oxygen transport membranes (OTM). Currently, he is the leader of the group Microstructure and Material Characterization at the IAM-ET (KIT). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering, materials science, and sensors.
Wolfgang Menesklou's research focuses on electronic and ionic transport phenomena in electroceramics. He has many years of experience in the processing and characterization of ceramic materials, thick and thin films, defect modeling, and the development, application and analysis of failure mechanisms of electronic devices such as dielectrics (MLCC), thermistors (PTCR, NTC), gas sensors and electrical connectors.
