Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Fellowship to Dr. Ujjval Bansal
Dr. Ujjval Bansal, postdoctoral researcher at the IAM-MMI, was awarded with a prestigious Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Fellowship. The two-year funding will allow Ujjval Bansal to unravel the fundamental relationships between microstructure and deformation mechanisms in high-performance precipitation-strengthened alloys, like Ni superalloys and steels. He will explore how dislocations interact with composite precipitate assemblies, which are primary strengthening contributors. These assemblies show great promise in providing exceptional strength and stability, even under elevated temperatures. To achieve this ambitious goal, Ujjval will perform in situ micro mechanical testing at room and elevated temperatures and employ advanced characterization methods, including state-of-the-art TEM and cutting-edge 4D-scanning transmission electron microscope (4D-STEM) imaging. These advanced tools enable to precisely isolate the precipitates and delve deep into their impact on plastic deformation, ultimately revealing the crucial strengthening mechanisms at play.
Congratulations to Dr. Ujjval Bansal on this prestigous recognition and grant award.
