Research

Electrochemical water splitting is a promising option for producing green hydrogen, with PEM water electrolysis representing a key technology. In particular, anodic water splitting and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) contribute significantly to the high energy consumption of the overall reaction and currently require the use of expensive and rare precious metal catalysts.

In this context, my research focuses on the dynamic and model-based microkinetic analysis of various novel mixed oxide catalysts with reduced iridium content in order to identify the predominant reaction mechanisms and limitations. This enables targeted catalyst optimization and improved performance under real operating conditions.
